Reporting live from my desk overlooking a pond that is still about 70% iced over (that 30% that’s melted is making me long for spring), I can feel the espresso coursing through my body and it is fueling this letter to you; my first progress report about my book of poetry and short stories.

Whenever I drink espresso, by the way, I like to say I’m in Espresso Tina mode, a reference to one of my favorite shows, Bob’s Burgers. Let me know if you know the episode.

I’m currently working on a whimsical little book of poems and short stories that I have tentatively titled Windows.

As I mentioned in my introductory post about this book, it’s already started and it was born in my notes app. I have almost 50 pages in a regular Word document right now, so I’m at the point where I’m curious how much more I need to write in order to create the book I’m envisioning.

So how do I figure that out? Allow me to introduce book math.
