When I started writing my debut novel Daughter Nature, I never told anyone about it. I didn’t even tell most of my closest friends. Basically, I didn’t want people to know about it in case I didn’t follow through. Only when I had a complete first draft of my manuscript did I actually spill it.
This time around though, I want to be more open about my upcoming book even though it’s nowhere close to done. It turns out completing a book and publishing it really gives you that confidence boost you need to trust you can finish the next one. Go figure.
The whole reason I started this Substack was to give people a behind the scenes look at my writing process. I’ve already written you a couple letters about my upcoming book of poetry and short stories, so you can refresh your memory with this introductory post I wrote, or if you’re a paid subscriber, you can read a progress report about it.
In the spirit of showing you what I’m working on for this book (as well as doing some super advanced promotion of it), I submitted a poem I wrote for my upcoming book to the Cry Lounge’s online literary magazine issue on the topic of loooove. And guess what?
My poem will be featured by the Cry Lounge on March 13!
You can read my poem entitled “words unsaid” as part of Issue 01: Love in a couple different places:

I’m so excited for it to be shared! This is the first time I’ve ever submitted to something like this. Plus, I’m new to sharing my poetry with people in general. Other submissions are being featured as well, so if you want to read more poetry and stories about love, there are already plenty live and more to come for you to dig into.
For more updates on my upcoming book, consider subscribing to new & natworthy. I’ll have more progress to share soon!
